Physical Custody

Physical custody of a child refers to the primary place a child will live and recieve daily care.  A grant of physical custody allows a parent to have his/her child live with them.  Generally the court grants a child’s physical custody to one parent and grants visitation rights to the other.  The court may also grant joint physical custody to the parents.  In joint physical custody, the child is allowed to live with both parents sharing approximately equal time with each of them.
